Who are we?
We are mother and daughter duo Sarah Bishop and Kim Blount and we absolutely love the theatre! Sarah brings her wealth of knowledge and experience as a theatre producer, director, writer and love of being on stage as well as qualifications in childcare to the Cherries duo.
Kimberley holds a distinction in music performance from Leeds college of music, is a talented musician, choreographer, director and also loves to tread the boards.
Sarah and Kim are also part of the production team at By The Play Theatre productions and this gave Sarah the platform to write and produce her own musical, 'Somewhere'. .
Cherries is quite the family affair where you will find Sarah's son Marty leading the tech team with lighting and video creation and Darren (Who also owns West Yorkshire PA Hire) running all things sound.
You will find either Sarah or Kim leading all of the Cherries and Next Stepz sessions ably assisted by a student aged 16+ with an enhanced DBS certificate and experience in the performing arts.

Our ethos is to give all children and young adults in our classes the opportunity to explore the performing arts with the biggest emphasis on fun. We pride ourselves on being friendly, accessible, affordable and tailor make all our shows and showcases to suit each individual.
We are at the top of the game with policies, safe-guarding and all licensing requirements.
Our weekly classes rehearse towards 2 staged shows at outside venues each year. In 2026 these venues are Yeadon Town Hall Theatre and Woodhouse Grove School Theatre.

We are proud to offer Cherries children's musical theatre classes in the community and in a local School. Cherries classes are for children aged 4-11 years.
We also offer our highly acclaimed Next Stepz Academy, teaching drama and musical theatre to young people aged 8-18, and we also offer our award winning and very popular school
holiday full day activity workshop days and summer camps.
You might see us in the community on stage at local events or performing for charity fundraisers.
In addition to this, we also produce a number of licensed shows each year at Yeadon Town Hall Theatre. Entry into these productions is done by audition and details are released on our social media. Please keep a look out for all the exciting plans we have for 2027 as our 2026 shows, SIX and SPONGEBOB are now fully cast and heading into the rehearsal process.

We are no strangers to this musical and have been watching the professional version on stage for years and we love it!
We might give the roller skates a miss but what we can guarantee is an explosion of fun, high energy songs such as 'Rollin Stock' & 'Crazy'

Join us for this 2 day event in the summer holidays where students of any age are welcomed to enjoy a less structured couple of days (No showcase)
They will be given the opportunity to sing, dance, choreograph, write scripts, make props, play games and more. If the weather is nice, we will have a picnic outside too!
So much fun to be had.
